An older home requires more attention to detail. Wyndhill Roofing can help.
What to know about older residential repairs and replacements
Wyndhill Roofing serves all older homes in the Colorado Springs area, from minor repairs, gutter work, and even major replacements.
One concerns many customers with older homes have is "will this project be more expensive because of the maturity of the house?"
The short answer is no. Ultimately age isn't as big a factor so much as the home's condition and what the damage is. Sometimes the roof is in great shape with the exception of some small damage, other times the whole roof may need to be replaced due to obvious hail or weather related damage.
What does the roofing process look like?
Thankfully, as a customer there are only a few key steps that you will need to be involved in, and we will communicate those steps to you every minute of the way.
The overall process for scheduling any kind of roofing work is a huge undertaking, and Wyndhill Roofing handles those areas for you.
Customer Key Steps to Take:
As the customer, a few things you'll want to do is first schedule a roofing inspection to assess your roofs condition and any damages. You can easily do this by calling our Wyndhill office and requesting an inspection. We'll send a trained professional roofing technician to access the damage and also provide you with a free proposal of what the repairs will cost. They will also discuss details such as gutter paint colors, shingle types, and other products your roof may need to move forward with the work.
If you're working with an insurance company, we will also talk to them for you if their pricing doesn't match ours. Most insurers use a program to determine the costs of a roof repair (like auto insurers initially do). That's why it's important to have an actual inspector assess your roofing work and address any extra damages or issues with your insurer.
If you decide you'd like to go with Wyndhill Roofing, the next step will be to send us a signed proposal with your signature and date via email or in person. Once this takes place, we will request a 50% downpayment to cover the initial material costs (all roofing contractors in Colorado Springs request 50% downpayment).
Thirdly, we will schedule your roof repairs. Currently we are available 1-2 weeks out.
Once the roof work is complete, Michael Windle the owner will meet with you in person for a final inspection to ensure the quality of the work is complete and to see if you have any questions or concerns.
Once the work is finalized and everyone is satisfied with the outcome of the submit your final payment for the roofing work.
At that point, Wyndhill Roofing will request a Pikes Peak Regional Office Final Inspection on your home. These inspections are not through Wyndhill, but are instead conducted by the County to ensure all work is completed according to the city permit regulations.
Once this step has been complete, the Pikes Peak Regional Office will send us a verification email, as well as leave a passed inspection note on your door. After that, you will receive two types of certifications:
1. Inspection Certification
2. Roof Warranty Certification

How do we assess roofing damage?
Overview of our inspection process
Unlike most roofing companies, Wyndhill's mission is to accurately and truthfully evaluate the exact condition of your roof and any damage or issues it has, resulting from either past or recent causes. This is refreshing to know, as most storm chasers will insist that you spend thousands of dollars replacing your entire roof, when it's possible all you needed were some minor repairs.
No matter what the damage is, our trained roofing technician will take the time to inspect the following areas for damage and issues:
Our inspector will be looking for issues related to roofing planes, flashing, gutter system, drip edge, chimney/cap, and attic vents. These are major factors that determine the next steps to take with your roof repairs, and are often missed by the fly-by-night storm chasers.
Our inspector also address material damage to your shingles such as loose shingles, moss growth, damage caused from wildlife (squirrels, birds, rodents) storm related damage such as heavy rain fall, high winds and hail, as well as natural wear and tear.
Addressing workmanship issues:
Unfortunately some roofers have been known to take shortcuts or do sloppy work, allowing for later problems to arise for your roof. We also recommend using a contractor who warranties their workmanship, which is different than your shingle manufacturers warranty. Some roofers offer cheap pricing, but won't warranty their work.
Wyndhill warrantees our own work, and during the first inspection, we will look for any workmanship issues or flaws that may have occurred from past roofers. Some of the things we'll look for include correct shingling on your roof valleys, proper sealant around skylights, attic vents and chimneys.
